Colorado Division roject of Reclamation,
Mining & Safety
Levicy Bond Revocation Project 2009, continued...
were graded to promote non-erosive drainage. During
construction, the main adit opening proved to be = -
unstable, due to a large amount of rock fall into the
backfill area. Therefore, it was determined that the final
few feet of the adit opening, located above the main ,,
portal, were too dangerous to backfill. It is expected
that the remnant opening will naturally backfill within a c....,.. ' ; .f`
few years. The main opening of the adit is closed, and 4, '
visitors to the site are not able to access the main adit. , . , :,
The project was ready for final inspection on September -
18, 2009. :R ' C* y ''1 . .
Change Orders
There was one change order for this project. Change
Order #1, removed the revegetation requirement from Portal following closure. The remaining opening is approximately
the project. DRMS determined that revegetation was not three feet deep, and was determined to be too dangerous to complete
the backfill, due to very loose, unstable rock
necessary at the site, due to the high elevation and lack
of vegetation within the surrounding area. The project
111
cost was reduced by$495.00 as a result of Change Order
#1. The final project cost was $24,500.00.
Future Monitoring And Maintenance a
This site should be monitored in the spring of 2010 toy
ensure that the final grade sustained the spring snowmelt
without significant erosion. Additionally, the closures
should be monitored every 5 years to ensure their long-
term effectiveness.
r k Backfilled and graded exploration pit.
J
d
Project Data
• t -4- ..'""' f ' ' ;; Levicy Mine Revocation Project
i X444' ,r, de
,,. • • ... 3 closures,earthwork.
