During this time, hand crews were busy shuttling tools and straw mulch to a staging area just outside of the Wilderness area.
Pack animals then hauled these supplies to various strategic points along the access road. Once the job site was prepared,
hand crews spent roughly one (1) week completing the specified tasks including repairing erosional features along the newly
reclaimed access road, construction of a foot trail along the length of the road, placement of straw bales at the lower mine
entry to correct severe erosion and mitigate sediment transport, and reseeding and mulching of all disturbed areas.
On the afternoon of August 30th, two (2) members of the Gunnison National Forest were onsite to designate locations for
water bar placement along Tellurium Creek Rd. Water bar construction and additional minor road improvements were
completed over the next few days and by September 3, 2010, the reclamation work was complete and ready for inspection.
Final Inspection was completed by the DRMS Project Manger on September 7, 2010 with no exceptions.
In addition to the reclamation activities stated above, an interpretive sign was designed and will be placed onsite in 2011, to
discuss the history of the Enterprise Mine, its significance in the mining district, and the reclamation efforts undertaken. The
interpretive sign was a collaboration between the United States Forest Service, Gunnison National Forest, the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, and Notchcode Creative.
Remaining Reclamation Requirements • Estimated •
The reclamation work completed at the Enterprise Mine will be monitored for integrity over the next few years.
