ITEM 4.0—ABANDON EXISTING PIZOMETER <br /> A two inch (2 in) diameter piezometer of unknown depth is located in the northeast portion of the <br /> work area (40° 41' 51.4" N; 104' 09' 32.1"W). The hole must be abandoned in accordance with State <br /> of Colorado Rule 2 CCR 402-2 (16.3) Rules and Regulations for Water Well Construction, Pump <br /> Installation, Cistern Installation, and Monitoring and Observation Hole/Well Construction (Sept. <br /> 2016). A copy of the 2 CCR 402-2 is available online here: <br /> https://dwr.colorado.gov/services/well-construction-inspection <br /> DRMS shall verify if ground water is present in the piezometer. If water is present the boring will be <br /> filled to the static water level with clean sand. Between the static water level and the existing ground <br /> surface the boring will be filled with 3/8 inch bentonite chips. Bentonite chips shall be 3/8 inch Baroid <br /> Holeplug graded sodium bentonite chips or equivalent as pre-approved by the PROJECT <br /> MANAGER. The bentonite chips shall be hydrated with one (1) gallon of drinking quality water per <br /> two (2) pounds of bentonite chips added. If groundwater is present in the boring then hydration may <br /> begin once the level of the chips exceeds the measured groundwater elevation. An estimated thirty <br /> two pounds (32 Ibs) of 3/8 inch Baroid Holeplug graded sodium bentonite chips will be <br /> required to abandon the piezometer. <br /> After the bentonite plug is fully hydrated the CONTRACTOR shall cut and properly dispose of the <br /> steel piezometer casing a minimum of two feet (2ft) below the finished grade. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment. Payment for this item will be reflected in a lump sum <br /> quote under Item 4.0 on the Bid Schedule. This lump sum quote will cover all costs for completing <br /> the activities required under this Task. Payment shall be as this Item is completed and approved by <br /> the PROJECT MANAGER. Payment shall be considered full compensation for all labor, materials, <br /> equipment, transportation and all other items and materials necessary and incidental to the <br /> completion of Item 4. <br /> ITEM 5.0— SITE UTILITY LOCATION <br /> The CONTRACTOR is responsible for and MUST have all utilities within two hundred feet (200ft) of <br /> any work area identified and located. A current dig ticket for all work areas must be maintained for <br /> the duration of the project. Free utility location services may be provided by Colorado811. Utility <br /> location can be arranged by either calling 811 or requesting location services online at the address <br /> below: <br /> https://www.colorado8ll.:.2 / <br /> There is a known high pressure gas line that runs along the north end of the property. Under no <br /> circumstances should any equipment or activities come within twenty five feet (25ft) of this pipeline. <br /> A copy of the Utility location ticket (aka Dig Ticket) must be furnished to the PROJECT MANAGER <br /> prior to any site disturbance activity. <br /> Measurement and Payment <br /> There will be no measurement for payment for utility locating services. <br /> Page 11 of 16 <br />
