Cultural Resource Review and Reconnaissance Survey for the Fairmeadows RV Storage and Gravel Mining Pit
Project, Greeley, Weld County, Colorado
and 9). The Weld County property assessment indicates that this house was built in 1905,and that date is
supported based on the style of its original siding and framing apparent in the 2001 assessment
photograph(Weld County 2022b). However, its foundation appears to be a robust concrete that may have
been added or replaced later; it is possible, but unknown whether the house was moved to the property at
a later date. The rear addition is obviously from after the original construction of the house;its east-
northeast extent appears to have allowed for the introduction of an indoor bathroom. The back steps are
wood replacement steps;the front porch is weathered concrete with a newer concrete sidewalk curving
outward from it.Its siding has recently been replaced along with all windows and doors,a recurring trend
for wood-framed houses on the property. The roof has been recently re-shingled in gray asphalt tiles,
another recurring trend for houses on the property.Under the overhanging eaves of the roof, the exposed
rafter ends are braced on the gable ends of the house. The front(south)and east side yards are fenced in a
low chain link fence without a top rail, and the backyard has a higher chain link dog run.A propane tank
is behind the house to the northwest.A multi-head gas well facility is a recent addition on the neighboring
property to the northwest of the house. The house has no outbuildings associated with it.
.T
n.
v
Figure 8. Site 5WL9410, Feature 1, house, view to the northeast.
11
