Rule 2: Permits
These sites will require monitoring for parameters as determined from the initial baseline
q g P
sampling. To determine these parameter the standards were compared to the values
reported during the baseline period and those values which exceeded standards or were
within 80% of the lowest standards value were selected. The list of parameters in Table
2.05.6 -12 is deemed adequate to monitor springs and seeps.
•
Table 2.05.6 -12
LORENCITO CANYON MINE
SPRING AND SEEP MONITORING PARAMETERS
Field Parameters
Analytical Parameters
Flow
Total Alkalinity
Temperature
Carbonate as CaCO3
H
Bicarbonate as CaCO3
Specific Conductance
Chloride
Nitrogen, ammonia, unionized
Sulfate
Calculated Values
Calcium (dissolved)
Cat - ion -Anion Balance
Iron total, total recoverable)
TDS (ratio - measured/calculated)
Magnesium (dissolved)
Sodium Absorption Ratio
Manganese (total and dissolved)
Hardness
Potassium (dissolved)
Sodium (dissolved)
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS
H (laboratory)
Conductivity @ 25 ° C
The parameters silver, cyanide, copper, mercury, and nitrate as N (dissolved) were not
included in this list since either the standards are less than the detection limit or no
analyses of these constituents were above the detection limits. Likewise lead (dissolved),
selenium (dissolved), and zinc (dissolved) have been removed from the list.
The site SPJC -1 has been inactivated because discharge from Coal Bed Methane Wells
has made it impossible to identify and isolate flow that may be issuing from this site.
Stock Ponds
Stock ponds designated for annual water level monitoring are identified in Table 2.05.6-
13. Water quality monitoring is not proposed as water quality impacts are not
anticipated. Since installation of CBM Wells upstream from the stock pond, flow to the
pond and thus water quality and water levels are more directly the result of water issuing
from these wells than from natural surface and ground water flows. With final
reclamation in progress, monitoring of stock ponds is terminated.
TR -16 Page 2.05 -104 (Revised 10/27/09)
