Rule 2: Permits
• Land Use of Revegetation Communities
Primarily, three pre-mining vegetation communities will be disturbed by the surface mine, Loadout,
and haul roads during the life of the mine: hay meadow, grassland and oak pinyon pine. The
communities are described in detail in Section 2.04-10.
U
n
U
LCC proposes to establish post-mine vegetation communities based on the pre-mine communities,
post mine site factors (i.e. topography, soils, aspect), and post-mine land uses. Acreages of post-
mine vegetation communities aze presented in Table 2.05.4-1g. Disturbances will be graded and
revegetated to similar pre-mine conditions with the following exceptions:
TABLE 2.05.4-1 POST MINING VEGETATION COMMUNITY TYPE
Disturbance T e Ve elation Communit Acres
Jeff Canyon Surface Mine Grassland 660
Subtotal 660
Jeff Canyon Roads Oak/Pinyon Pine 9
Coniferous Forest 1
Riparian 1
Grassland 2
Subtotal 13
Loadout Facility Hay Meadow 7
Subtotal 7
Haul and Access Road, and Grassland 5
Loadout Topsoil Stockpiles Oak/Pinyon Pine 5
Hay Meadow 1
Subtotal 11
Haul and Access Roads Oak/Pinyon Pine 9
Subtotal 9
TOTAL, ALL 700
• Disturbed portions of the surface mine area will be revegetated to a grassland community
with interspersed shrub plantings.
• The Office Area will be utilized by the surface land owner for a staging and storage area to
support apost-mine rangeland land use classification. This planned used is not consistent
with topsoiling and revegetation of these areas.
• Natural reinvasion will be used to reestablish the shrub and tree component in premine
communities disturbed by linear features such as reclaimed haul roads, access roads, and
diversion ditches. Planting of shrubs and trees in most linear features would not be
effective in significantly enhancing rangeland or wildlife habitat.
TR-13
2.05-61 (Revised 12/8/04)
