6. Schedule of Operations
Mining, screening, and processing will be conducted on site with portable equipment throughout
the year. Asphalt and concrete production will occur onsite at various times of the year. Product
will be sold from these activities throughout the year. The operator will not typically have night
gravel mining operations, although minor truck activity and repairs may occur after hours.
Operations will be limited by weather and will likely only occur 6 months out of the year.
7. Routt County Impacts and Environmental Impacts
The final product leaving the site is expected to consist of roughly 50% asphalt and 50% gravel.
Concrete production has not taken place on Camilletti in the past, but the option for it is
maintained by the operator. Impacts to Routt County are discussed further in the Routt County
Special Use Permit but are summarized below. In general, the impacts will not be increased by
the changes described in this amendment.
a. Truck traffic: Highway trucks will use the access to US-40 via the current private access
to the Routt County pit. This access can be seen on Map C-2. A CDOT access permit is
already in place.
b. Noise: The operations at the Hayden Gravel Pit will be a continuation of the mining and
processing at the existing pit with no increase in intensity or noise impacts. Operations
will be maintained in a fashion to stay within state noise limits.
c. Dust: Pit activities will be watered and all operations on the site are regulated by the Air
Pollution Control Division of the CDPHE.
d. Visual impact: This pit expansion will cause visual impacts to drivers on US-40 and
potentially the neighboring properties to the north. These impacts and their mitigation are
addressed as part of the Routt County Special Use Permit process.
e. The product from this mine will positively impact the local community by supplying
construction materials for the foreseeable growth of this part of Routt County.
Additionally, by maintaining mining activities in an area that is used to them (County Pit
and Camilletti Pit already present), the cumulative impacts to the local community are
kept minimal.
a) Stormwater control structures will be maintained to protect the area surface water
regime.
b) The operator will work closely with the County, Town of Hayden, NRCS, CDPW and the
DRMS to ensure that the reclamation plan is the most appropriate for achieving the post-
mining land use.
Hayden Gravel Pit
December 2022 D-5 Lewicki 81 Associates
