Mr. Patrick Lennberg December 15, 2022 Page 2 of 2 • Reduced mining setbacks from 200'to 100' along portion of the HWY 119 Frontage: o Portions of the mining setback adjacent to HWY 119 have been reduced from 200'to 100' o A Supplemental report reflecting this revision is attached for your review. • Include the option to install a slurry wall around the two ponds located south of HWY 119 in Mining Area 1 (MA1) o The operator has been working with the landowner to limit to need for long term augmentation for the two ponds located south of HWY 119 in Mining Area 1. o The existing reclamation plan provides for the option of a clay liner for one of the reclaimed ponds. o This request adds an option to install a slurry wall around the perimeter of ponds A and B. The request includes a provision to require site specific design and specifications to the Division for review prior to installation of the slurry wall. This requirement is noted on the revised reclamation plan. o The goal is to acknowledge the option for the slurry wall liner around ponds A and B as part of this Technical Revision so that that after the design is reviewed and approved by the Division, the operator can move forward to install the slurry wall. o The current plan is to obtain the engineering design for the slurry wall, submit it to the Division for review and approval and install the slurry wall around ponds A and B prior to mining. • The addition of an enhanced riparian area adjacent to the portion of Mining Area 1 located adjacent to the City of Longmont St. Wain Greenway. • A reduction in the bond to reflect the reduction on the area of slurry wall around the perimeter of the mining are south of HWY 119(MA1) • All of the requested changes fall within the existing Area of Disturbance and the Permit Boundary. We have included a Supplement to the original Slope Stability Analysis to reflect the reduced setback along the HWY 119 frontage and revised the mining and reclamation plans to reflect the request as outlined above. The revised mining and reclamation plans were also reviewed by the City of Longmont as part of the rezoning and land development review. Thank you for your assistance.
