These specific
seeding rates are based upon broadcast seeding compared to drill seeding. If drill seeding is
desired to revegetate the site, then the seeding rates can be cut in half due to higher germination
rates. The seeding rate is based on pure live seed(PLS) and the actual bulk pounds of seed will
depend on purity and germination rates.
The shrubs can be seeded, seedlings planted or natural establishment could occur based upon
future management of the site.
Recommended Seed Mix
Species Seeding Rate(100%) %Mix PLS Lbs/Ac
Indian Ricegrass 1781bs/Ac 30% 2.22 lbs/Ac
Galleta 891bs/Ac 30% 1.11 lbs/Ac
Squirreltail 109lbs/Ac 15% 1.36lbs/Ac
Blue Grama 20 lbs/Ac 10% .25 lbs/Ac
Scarlet globemallow 28 lbs/Ac 10% .35 lbs/Ac
Pale evening primrose 6 lbs/Ac 5% .07 lbs/Ac
Fourwing Saltbrush .5 lbs/Ac
Yellow Rabbitbrush .3 lbs/Ac
Sincerely,
Amanda James
Rangeland Management Specialist
NRCS
Helping People Help the Land
USDA is an equal opportunity provider, employer, and lender
