109
1 the product of that is a 2-D map that shows the 1 Q. Did you do anything on this to
2 variation of the resistivity within the subsurface. 2 highlight those areas? I see some checkering
3 Q. Okay. Are the results of the output 3 around.
4 set forth anywhere in your report? 4 A. Yes, I did.
5 A. Yes, it is. Figure -- it should be 15 Q. Okay.
6 Figure 5. Figure 5. 6 A. There's a dashed line around it.
7 Q. All right. What does that show? 7 Q. All right. Which lines of this ERT
8 A. It shows a series of what is called 8 analysis is this particularly pronounced in?
9 geoelectric sections along the eight lines -- seven 9 A. Pardon me?
10 lines of this report -- seven lines trending from 10 Q. Which of these lines shown in Figure
11 west to east and south on the left and north on the 11 5 -- I see lines L-4, L-5. Which lines do you
12 right. 12 believe these features are particularly pronounced
13 Q. Right. What does the different 113 in?
14 coloring represent in this? 14 A. Well, 4, 5, and 6 shows the
15 A. Different coloring represent the 15 strongest. It seems to be developing there.
16 magnitude of the resistivity -- the bulk resistivity 16 Beginning in 3, 4, 5 it's pretty strong; 6 it seams
17 in ohm meters. There's a -- at the bottom of the 17 to be waning a little bit, and 7.
18 figure, there's a color contour bar which shows the 18 Q. Okay. Turning back to Figure 2. Did
19 relative resistivities that correspond with those 19 you do anything to represent that area in Figure
20 colors and color ranges. 20 2?
21 Q. All right. Based on your experience, 121 A. Yes. We outlined, again, using
22 what does this output show? 22 dashed black lines, the boundaries -- the north and
23 A. This particular one does show 23 south boundaries were. This anomaly appears on
24 variations in the section as you go from west to 24 the -- primary those three lines; 4, 5, and 6.
25 east, changes we normally would expect, and you can 25 Q. Okay. And what is the marked item
109 111
1 see this in the -- line 1, which is off to the west 1 with the yellow circle with the yellow X through it
2 of the area, imre or less uniform -- I wouldn't call 2 in the middle of that area?
3 it uniform-- but layering within the ground. 3 A. That is the location reported to us
4 It's almost a layered-type earth 4 of the air shaft.
5 caning down where most of your changes in 5 Q. Okay. Did this sampling effort
6 resistivity are consistent to individual layers and 6 reveal any direct surface connections -- this first
7 then change different layers beneath. 7 sampling effort?
8 As you progress towards the -- 8 A. I mean, the -- there are -- we are
9 towards the east along here, you can see variations 9 mapping, you know, the distribution of resistivities
10 in the resistivity pattern. The frost significant, I 10 in the ground.
11 think from-- from our point of view from trying to 11 Q. Okay.
12 identify vertical pathways from the surface, is 12 A. Now, you can identify, you know,
13 in -- around line 4 you start to develop -- you see 13 connections that seem to be heading that direction,
14 the blue color, which is the lower resistivity 14 but again I'm not a hydrologist. We were looking
15 unit. 15 at -- as far as distributions of resistivities.
16 A vertical distribution consistently 16 Q. Okay. You identified that?
17 going from near surface down several -- tens of feet 17 A. Yeah.
18 dorm to the limits of expiration of this particular 18 Q. All right. Why don't we go ahead and
19 system. 19 move to Exhibit A-32, discuss that second sampling
20 Q. So these -- just so I understand. i20 effort. What is the purpose of this second sanpling
21 These are the areas shown in blue? 21 effort conducted in, I guess, is it July of 2016?
22 A. These are -- yeah. The blue that are 22 A. Yeah. I think the work was done in
23 consistent with -- we've got them outlined on the j23 July. I wanted to get maybe a little more
24 map as that specific EK anomaly. There are other 24 definition, tighten up the location of the anomaly.
25 areas of blue, but those correspond to the -- 25 We had the widely spaced stuff we'd done in the
110 112
