part of Exhibit F. Buildings to remain post mining also are shown on Map F-1 and
Map F-Ia. For the buildings that will be demolished and that have concrete
foundations, the concrete will be broken up and used to backfill the portal areas or
will be capped with a minimum of 3 feet of fill/cover material below final
reclamation grade.
Monitoring wells will be plugged and abandoned in accordance with guidance from the
State Engineers Office (SEO). In general, the area around the well will be dug down
approximately 1 foot and the well casing will be cut. The well will be filled with crushed
rock and the top 3 feet of the well will be plugged with concrete. The 1-foot hole will be
backfilled with 3-inch rock to match groundcover in the area around the well.
3.4 Portal Areas
There are three portal areas that will be reclaimed: the underground shop (3 portals),
the mill, and the Revenue tunnel portal. Approximately 2200 cubic yards of waste rock
will be used to backfill the 3 UG storage portals. The Mill portal will be backfilled
with equipment and demolition debris, and the main portal will not be backfilled.
