G. The reference areas will be utilized to determine revegetation success in a manner that the <br /> Division finds acceptable 4.15.7(4)(a) <br /> XII. Post-mining Land Use - <br /> B. The predominant pre-mining land uses were related to irrigated agriculture, grazing, and <br /> related support facilities. Approximately 85% of the permit area was irrigated agriculture. <br /> The remaining 15% was composed primarily of sagebrush rangeland, with smaller inclusions <br /> of abandoned farmsteads and facilities. The pre-mining land uses are discussed in Section <br /> 2.04.3 of the permit and shown on Map 2.04.3.The proposed post-mining land uses are <br /> combined with the revegetation in Section 2.05.4(2)(e) and shown on Map 2.05.4-5. <br /> The Division is proposing to approve the post-mining land uses of irrigated pasture, irrigated <br /> cropland and dryland pasture (4.16.1 and 4.16.3). <br /> XIII. Protection of Fish,Wildlife and Related Environmental Values <br /> Fish and wildlife habitat is not a planned post-mining land use. <br /> XIV. Protection of Underground Mining <br /> This section does not apply to the New Horizon Mine. <br /> XV. Subsidence Control <br /> The New Horizon Mine is a surface operation. There are no subsidence concerns from <br /> underground subsidence. This section does not apply to the New Horizon Mine. <br /> XVI. Concurrent Surface and Underground Mining <br /> This section does not apply to the New Horizon Mine operation. <br /> XVII. Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors <br /> The Division has determined that there are no alluvial valley floors along Tuttle or <br /> Calamity Draws by definition. <br /> XVIII. Operations on Prime Farmland <br /> Based on information presented in soil surveys included in the permit application and the <br /> Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) San Miguel Area Soil Survey, as well as <br /> correspondence from and consultation with NRCS staff, the Division has determined that <br /> prime farmland soils, which are Prime Farmland when cropped and irrigated with a <br /> 18 <br />
