26 September 2022
C-1994-082/Yoast Mine RAR
o Pond 14 was not discharging at the time of inspection. Remnants of an earlier algae
bloom were evident on the pond. The water appeared turbid at the time of the inspection.
o Pond 13 held turbid water at the time of inspection and was not discharging. Remnants
of a previous algae bloom floated in the pond.
o Pond 12 was discharging clear water at the time of inspection. The water level in the
flume was 0.1 foot at the dime of inspection. Vegetation is interfering in water level
measurement and flow and requires mitigation.
SLIDES and OTHER DAMAGE 4.12
o The site, in the past, has experienced soil movement in the form of slumps and slides. At
the time of inspection no evidence of recent new movement was apparent at the slumped
areas above County Road 37. These areas are mostly associated with springs that flow
after snowmelt and appeared dry at the time of inspection.
RE VEGETATION-Rule 4.15
General Requirements 4.15.1; Use of Species 4.15.2, Grazing 4.1 S.S
o Reclamation and revegetation have been completed at this site, with most of the site phase
II and Phase III bond released.
o Vegetation was turning autumn gold and drying out. Vegetation comprises a diverse mix
of various species of grasses, perennials, forbs and shrubs.
o Pond banks and dam outslopes appeared well vegetated at the time of inspection.
o Establishing vegetation on slide and slump areas is problematic due to slope and aspect
and these areas remain sparsely vegetated.
o The drainage above Pond 12 represents the only Phase I reclamation remaining at the
site.
o No expanses of bare areas or significant weed infestations were noted on the slope above
Pond#12 at time of inspection.
FISH and WILDLIFE—RULE 4.18
o Abundant wildlife is often observed throughout the site mine.
DOCUMENTS RECEIVED
None
ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE
No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 8
