September 20,2022 C-1981-035/King Coal Mine LJW
King II Area
At the King II area all internal drainage ditches were observed, and found to be free from obstruction and flowing
as designed. All internal storm water reports to the main Sediment Pond shown in Photo Six. The main pond
contained minimal water and showed no evidence of discharge. The banks are well vegetated and appeared stable
at the time. Recently discussions had been had with the Operator to repair a section of silt fencing adjacent to the
materials storage area. The silt fence has been repaired and can be seen in Photo Seven and appears to be
functioning as designed.
PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11
Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization;Placement:
At the King I area, the lower refuse pile was observed. The pile has been graded and the northwest corner
has been well compacted. The southwest end of the pile shows evidence of recent deposition of waste material
that has not yet been compacted. The refuse pile can be seen in Photos Eight and Nine. Visual estimates of the
grade of the pile suggest it is at or near the required grade specified in the designs of the pad. This is not
considered a problem at this time as no erosional features or signs of material transport were observed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 2
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 8
