Remedies were
discussed at the time and Lincoln County responded with the following plan of action(in black etxt),
to mitigate and prevent the situation in the future. Please find DRMS's request for documentation of
the updates to the mine plan map and permit text below(in blue).
The Broken Spear Pit M2000-050 has a berm that broke during a large amount of rain fall
recently, which allowed water to enter the pit. Our action if you see that this will be beneficial is
as follows.
We (Lincoln County), will grade the creek bottom with in the pit boundaries to bring the dirt to
start to build the berm along the northern boundary. This will also lower the high spot which has
been holding water near the front of the pit allowing the water to run back to the pit. We
(Lincoln County), will haul some heavier soil to help plate the berm this will allow the water to
continue down the creek to the east.
We (Lincoln County), will repair the berm that is on the western side of the pit that has been
breached by the water that ran into the pit. This berm will have an outlet on the north end to let
water flow from the Currie Creek that will empty into the Arikaree Creek should there any run off.
I have included a map to illustrate.
DRMS 8 Sept 2022
Please be aware of the groundwater level and the possibility of exposing groundwater as
soil is excavated for use in the berm.
1. Please indicate how any exposure of groundwater will be prevented and mitigated should
groundwater be exposed during excavation.
2. Please illustrate on the Mine Plan Map where dirt for repairing the berm on the east
(breached berm), will be obtained.
F'COI
Physical: 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, CO 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 4 o0
Mailing: DRMS Room 215, 1001 E 62nd Ave, Denver, CO 80216 https://drms.colorado.gov Fe
Jared S.
