ACA
.A lmlweml P.
"ASPHALT, CONCRETE, & AGGREGATES"
Exhibit D- Mining Plan:
)x 1887.702 Gregg Drive • Buena Vista CO 81211
Phone: (719) 395-3790 Fax: (719) 395-3794
The detailed mining plan for these three parcels is laid out as follows:
A. General Schedule of Operation — Excavation of material for this requested property (Avery Extension Pit
#2) will commence when all permits are approved and will continue for approximately Thirty (30) years.
The total amount of material to be used on site or removed is approximately 4,000,000 cubic yards. Typical
extraction operations will be in place throughout the winter months; however, removal or placement of
material may occur throughout the year.
B. Detail of Operation — As resources are depleted in the current Avery Pit, the first phase of material
extraction from the Avery Extension Pit #2 will commence on the North end of the project site (near Gregg
Drive). Topsoil will be removed and stockpiled for reclamation of slopes and pit floor. A shielding berm
will be constructed out of onsite earthen materials to a height of 10-FT. The top of the berm will be 10-FT
wide and will have 3:1 side -slopes creating a 70-FT wide overall berm. The berm will be stabilized
pursuant to the temporary re-vegitation plan, presented in Exhibit E. The outside face of the berm bordering
Gregg Drive and Rodeo Road will be slightly countered to help give the berm a more natural appearance.
Material will be extracted by excavator, loader, and dozer. The mining will start at the ground level
and advancing downward until a 15-FT high wall condition is encountered. To maintain a safe working
environment, a second bench will then be established starting at the 15-FT height. This bench will be mined
until a 15-FT high wall is present. At this point, the mining operations will return to the first bench. The
remaining phases will be mined in the same manner, proceeding South and downward until at final level
(approx. 30-40 FT below ground surface). At no point will mining activities be allowed to reach the
groundwater level. As these benches proceed, the North, East, and West walls of the property will be
sloped to a 3:1 grade. This will keep a safe working environment in addition to ensuring
adequate material for final reclamation without any additional material. The estimated length of high wall
to be exposed at any given time is 775-Feet.
Storm water control measures will include sloping all areas towards pit to retain possible runoff.
Berms and pit wall sloping will be used to ensure all storm waters are retained on site.
Final construction will include reclamation of the pit pursuant to the requirements of Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. These reclamation activities will include slope
stabilization, topsoil placement and seeding of all slopes and pit floor. Upon final reclamation, the land
use is anticipated to be commercial and industrial parcels similar to the neighboring properties.
ACA Products, Inc • 702 Gregg Drive; PO Box 1887 • Buena Vista, CO 81211
Phone 719-395-3790 • Fax 719-395-3794
