August 24, 2022 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine CCW <br /> The RP-4 Pond was also dry during the inspection. The pond is located at the northwestern base of the RP-2/3/4 <br /> Refuse Pile. The outlet for the pond was observed to be clear. The embankment was vegetated and stable. There <br /> were no erosional features. <br /> The RP-5 Pond is located at the northern base of the RP-5a Refuse Pile. The pond was dry during the inspection. <br /> The primary outlet was clear of debris. The embankment was stable with vegetative cover. No indications of <br /> erosional features were seen. <br /> The RP-a Pond is located at the eastern base of the RP-A Refuse Pile. The pond was dry. The outlet for the pond <br /> was clear of debris. The embankment was stable and there were no erosional concerns. <br /> PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br /> Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> At the time of the inspection refuse material was being placed on the RP-A refuse pile. Work is being <br /> conducted to place refuse material to finish the base of the RP-A pile. The disposal site was stable and there were <br /> no erosional features observed. Refuse material was being spread out on top of the RP-2/3/4 pile. The slopes of <br /> the pile were stable with localized erosion. The erosional features were rills coming off the top of the pile down <br /> the slopes. These erosional features have been documented in previous Division inspection reports. The rills have <br /> not significantly enlarged since the Division's previous inspection. The rills do not adversely affect the stability of <br /> the slopes. Refuse material was stockpiled on top of the RP-5a pile. The pile was stable with minor erosion. Rills <br /> on the slopes of the pile have been documented in previous Division inspections. The rills are not thought to <br /> adversely affect the stability of the pile. Discussions with the operator's representative informed the Division that <br /> the slopes of the RP-2/3/4 ad 5a piles will be resurfaced in the fall this year. <br /> ROADS—Rule 4.03 <br /> Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3),Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5)and <br /> (6)/4.03.2(5) and(6),Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The Haul Road was in good repair during the inspection. Grading work was being conducted on the <br /> portion of the road leading from the intersection with the conveyor corridor east to the RP-5a Refuse Pile. Access <br /> roads throughout the site were well maintained. There were no roads with indications of instability or erosion. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> The RP-I Refuse Pile has been fully reclaimed for several years. The pile was stable with vegetative <br /> cover. There were no erosional features identified. The perimeter ditches for the pile were dry and clear of debris. <br /> SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> Support Facilities that were included in this inspection were as follows;the main facilities area/Portals <br /> Area,fuel storage area,Prep Plant,the radio tower,the West Mains Vent Shaft,the explosives storage, and the <br /> water storage tanks. Pads for these facilities were stable with no erosional concerns identified. Pads with berms <br /> were observed to be vegetated and stable.
