Contractors (Tetra Tech and a drilling operation), as well as the abandoned
mines team headed by Stephanie Mitchell were working in an area of numerous wells;
abandoning 12 wells near an area of an underground coal seam fire. The wells are being filled
with bentonite and sealed with concrete and the pipe will be severed approximately 3 feet below
the surface once all materials have properly cured. The hot wells will not be
abandoned at this time.
PERMITTING ACTIONS in PROGRESS:
MAINTENANCE ITEMS
o Thistle and white top mitigation needed in north railroad field.
MAINTENANCE ITEMS ADDRESSED
o Weeds at the refuse pile have been treated.
INSPECTION
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
Reclamation is underway as permitted.
