Bureau of Land Management Appendices
Royal Gorge Field Office DOI-BLM-CO-F020-2020-0036 EA
continued. All blasting materials will be stored
on private lands. Blasting will occur on a routine
basis as mining progresses north/northwest.
Buffering - Ridge on the south side of the pit N N N -
aids in buffering and visual screening.
Max depth of 160 ft w/avg. depth of 120 ft
(highwall slopes). Oval shaped pit w/sloped
overburden overlying the deposit.The deposit
will be mined downward, from the upper levels,
one level at a time. There will be 40 vertical feet Y N N -
d. Mine between level benches(see cross-section),
geometry, design alternating with highwalls. Final highwall faces
and composition- will be left at 1H:IV,with alternating level
Bottom elevation, benches 10 ft wide. Ref. Figure 3 in the EA.
working slopes,_ Site prep- Overburden will be stripped off and
benches sloped back at 2H:IV, above the obsidian. The
(production and footprint of the deposit to be mined will be fully
interim stripped of overburden at the time of mining the
reclamation), soil uppermost level. Stripping and shaping the
and rock type overburden in the initial stages allows the Y N N -
operator to be able to reclaim overburden slopes
earlier. Stripped overburden will be used for
constructing permanent features onsite and/or
taken to permanent disposal cell(see map),
capped with topsoil, and revegetated (see 4f and
4h,below).
A-11
