This is obviously a concern for the applicants, the engineers, and
especially truck drivers and those who commute to work on our roads. That is one reason
having a Pit in the South End is important. An example: to haul from the Lob Lolly Pit on
SH-151 near Arboles to 1000 Piedra Road (a generic location) is a 27-mile trip. From
South Hinsdale Pit to that same address is a 15-mile trip. This reduces the potential for
many things, including hitting wildlife and livestock, having accidents, emissions of diesel
exhaust, and burning of fuel. For people in the South End, the matter is even clearer:
whereas a given address might be a five-mile haul from South Hinsdale Pit, it is a 47-mile
one way trip from Lob Lolly, and even further from Durango.
5182-22-003 WASTELINE, INC.
