• <br />` (3) Anchor rail ends into concrete and masonry with steel round flanges <br /> welded to rail ends and anchored into wall construction with lead <br /> expansion shields and bolts. <br /> (4) Anchor rail ends to steel with steel oval or round flanges welded to <br />I rail ends and bolted to structural steel members. <br />(- (5) Secure handrails to walls by means of wall brackets, and wall return <br /> fitting at handrail ends. Provide brackets with not less than 3" <br /> projection from finish wall surface to center of pipe handrail, and <br />(' with wall plate portion of bracket drilled to receive one 3/8" bolt. <br /> Locate brackets not more than 60" o.c. Provide flush-type wall <br /> return fittings with same projection as that specified for wall <br /> brackets. Secure wall brackets and wall return fittings to building <br /> construction es follows: <br /> (a) For concrete and solid masonry anchorage, use bolt anchor <br /> expansion shields and lag bolts. <br /> (b) For hollow masonry and stud partition anchorage, use toggle <br />C bolts having square heads. <br /> (6) Galvanize exterior steel railings, including pipe, fitting, brackets, <br />~• fasteners, and other ferrous metal components. <br /> C. Grat ing <br />C (1) Grating shall be constructed of the following bars: <br />Bearing Bars: 1-3/4" x 3/16" Spacing: 1-3/16" on center <br />(_ Cross Bars: 1/2" Diameter Spacing: 4" on center <br />L (2) Grating shall be framed with an edge bar around its complete <br />C perimeter which shall have the same cross-section dimensions as the <br />main bearing bars. <br />C (3) Grating shall be hot-dipped galvanized after fabrication in <br />accordance with ASTM A-123. <br />(4) Grating shall be supported on an angle iron framework embedded into <br />C the concrete as indicated on the drawings. Each removable section <br />shall be secured with saddle clip fastners or plate fasteners. <br />Embedded angle iron frames shall be galvanized and shall be anchored <br />~- with 3" studs not more than 12" on center. <br />" (5) Grating for outlet control towers shall be furnished with at least one <br />2'-0" x 1'-6" hinged section for access. Each access opening shall be <br />C . furnished with at least two (2) heavy duty hinges and a latch. Access <br />openings shall be located as shown on the drawings. <br />~ 05100-6 <br />J <br />
