1. No floor slab on grade, except where the floor slab and budding <br />foundation is monolithic, shall be constructed until the roof is on the <br />building, and in hot weather enclosing walls shall also be in place, <br />except that the Contractor may in lieu thereof (and he shall where: <br />the floor slab and building foundation is monolithic) provide such <br />temporary cover as will adequately protect the floor slabs. <br />a. Temporary cover shall consist of temporary framing and <br />tarpaulins, or other materials as approved by the Engineer. <br />b. Temporary cover shall remain in place during the curing periocl <br />and longer when required by the Engineer, but not to exceed 5 <br />days longer than the curing period. <br />2. Before construction of concrete stabs on grade, all pipes under the: <br />proposed stabs shalt have received the required tests. <br />3. The concrete shall be of comparatively dry consistency and shall be; <br />screeded level or to the required grades. <br />4. Where reinforcing mesh is used in slabs on grade, the concrete shaLY <br />be placed in one layer. <br />e. The reinforcing mesh shall be set at the proper height on <br />metal, plastic, concrete, or other approved chairs. <br />b. The concrete shall then be placed in such a manner es to <br />prevent any voids and so as not to disturb the position of the; <br />reinforcing mesh. <br />E. <br />F. <br />5. After consolidation of the concrete, the surface shall be prepared to <br />receive the type of finish specified or shown on the drawings. <br />6. All concrete for tank foundation systems shall be placed in a single <br />placing operation. <br />Bonding <br />Before depositing new concrete on or against concrete which has set, the; <br />existing surfaces shall be thoroughly roughened and cleaned of all laitance, <br />foreign matter and loose particles. Forms shall be retightened and all the: <br />existing surfaces flushed with a grout coat of neat cement. Grout for <br />horizontal construction joints shall be of cement and fine aggregate in the <br />same proportion as the concrete to be placed, and shall be from 1/2" to 1" in <br />thickness. <br />Chute Placement <br /> <br /> <br />1. When concrete is conveyed by chutes, the plant and equipment shall <br />be of such size and design as wi71 insure a continuous flow of concretes • <br />in the chute. <br />03300-8 <br />
