Concrete shall be mixed in accordance with ACI specifications 318 and 614. <br />'Use a water reducing admixture to reduce the total water required by 10% <br />without any loss of workab-lity. <br />PART 3 -EXECUTION <br />3.01 Preparation <br />A. Mixing and Delivery <br />1. Transit-mixed concrete may be used, subject to approval by the <br />Engineer. <br />~• <br />i~ <br />2. Transit-mixed concrete shall be truck-mixed as specified below and in <br />accordance with "Specification for Ready-Mixed Concrete" ASTM C- <br />94-67. <br />e. Material shall be batched and discharged into struck-mixer <br />and agitator, which shall be capable of transporting and mixing <br />the separate ingredients into a thoroughly mixed and uniform <br />mass while in transit. <br />b. The quality and characteristics of the mix shall conform in <br />every respect to the requirements for concrete after the <br />addition of mixing water. <br />c. The number of revolutions of the mixer shall be not less than <br />four per minute. Any additional mixing shall be done at not <br />less than four revolutions of the drum per minute, but with a <br />peripheral velocity not greater than 200 feet per minute. Any <br />additional mixing shall not total more than 250 revolutions at <br />mixing and agitating speeds combined. <br />d. The agitating speed of any type of transit mixer shall be not <br />less than two or more than six revolutions per minute. <br />e. Truck mixers generally shall be operated within the limits of <br />the capacity and speed of rotation designated by the <br />manufacturer. <br />3. The concrete shall have a temperature of 70°F. plus or minus 20°F. <br />at the time of placing unless prior permission has been granted in <br />writing by the Engineer to exceed these tolerances. <br />03300-5 <br />
