• SECTION 03300 -CAST-IN-PLACE CONCRETE <br />PART1-GENERAL <br />1.01 Description <br />This work shall consist of furnishing and placing Portland cement concrete with or <br />without reinforcement as required, in accordance with these specifications and in <br />reasonably close conformity with the dimensions, lines, and grades shown on the <br />_ drawings or established by the Engineer. <br />1.02 inspection <br />- The Contractor shall obtain from the various trades suitable templates, or instruc- <br />tions, or both, for setting such items as ere not placed in the forms by the trades <br />themselves. All embedded items shall be inspected and the required tests for <br />_ concrete and other materials, or for mechanical operations, shall be complete and <br />approved by the Engineer before concrete is placed. Additionally, the Engineer <br />- shall approve reinforcement prior to placing concrete. Approval to place concrete <br />shall be obtained from the Engineer before any concrete is placed. This applies to <br />_ each item or unit of construction. - <br />1.03 Job Conditions <br />~• Concrete shall not be mixed when the air temperature is 40°F. or below without <br />the written permission of the Engineer. <br />1.04 Submittals <br />The Contractor shall submit certifications of conformity for materiels used in the <br />concrete mix and shall submit a mix design which is designed in accordance with <br />ACI-211.1-77. <br />PART 2 -PRODUCTS <br />2.01 Materials <br />A. Water <br />1. Water used in mixing concrete shall be clean and free from injurious <br />amounts of oils, acids, alkalies, organic materials, or other <br />deleterious substances. <br />2. Water which has been approved for drinking purposes may be <br />accepted without test for use in concrete. <br />3. All other sources shall be approved before using and shall have the <br />• following characteristics: <br />a. pH between 4.5 and 8.5 <br />03300-1 <br />
