C. <br />D. <br />Anchor bolts <br />1. Where anchor bolts interfere with reinforcing steel, the steel position <br />shall be adjusted to permit the placement of the anchors in their <br />proper locations. <br />2. The Engineer shall approve such adjustments prior to placement of <br />concrete. <br />The minimum concrete covering steel reinforcement shall be as follows: <br />Location Minimum Cover <br />Cast against and permanently exposed <br />to earth: 3 in. <br />Exposed to earth or weather: <br />#6 through #18 bars 2 in. <br />#5 bars, 5/8 in. wire and smaller 1-1/2 in. <br />Not exposed to weather or in contact with <br />the ground: <br />Slabs, walls, joists: <br />#14 and #18 bars 1-1/2 in. <br />#11 and smaller 3/4 in. <br />Beams, girders, columns, principal reinforce <br />meet, ties, stirrups or spirals 1-1/2 in. <br />Shells and folded plate members: <br />#6 bars and larger 3/4 in. <br />#5, 5/8 in. wire and smaller 1/2 in. <br /> <br /> <br />• <br />03200-3 <br />
