C. Samples, Certified Tests <br />The Contractor will be required to furnish to the Engineer, prior to installs- <br />, tion, five (5) copies of certified test reports from the manufacturer or from <br />' a qualified laboratory showing all data required to indicate compliance with <br />the above requirements. The test reports shall also include permeability and <br />jT filtration tests showing the performance of the filter with various sizes of <br />granular soils (including D15, D50, D85 particle sizes) and water, giving both <br />particle retention and permeability. <br />In addition, the Contractor shall furnish the Engineer samples of the f>Zter <br />fabric. Samples shall consist of a minimum of 5 square yards of cloth and a <br />minimum of 36 linear inches of seams, with at least one foot of cloth one <br />f each side of the seam, shall be furnished for testing. Mill certificates from <br />the producer, shall accompany these samples, citing the trade name and <br />producer of the cloth and certifying that the samples are representative o1' <br />( the materiel which will be installed at the project. <br />l The cost of all samples, shipping and testing, including any additional testin€; <br />r that may be required to insure compliance with these Specifications, shall bea <br />at the Contractor's expense. <br />2.05 Granular Filter Blanket <br />I~ <br />/•~ A. General <br />1 7 The granular fater blanket shall be used where indicated on the Drawings • <br />l_ and may be used as a substitute for filter fabric at the Contractor's option. <br />i B. Gradation <br />• The gradation for the falter materials was specified in Section 02200, Part <br />`- 2.03 B and C as Type 3 and Type 4 material and is repeated here. <br />I 1. Type 3 Material (Fine Filter) <br />' The Contractor may be able to use on-site materials from the area <br />near the river to obtain this material. He should be cognizant of the <br />fact that most material used to obtain Type 3 material will requir~a <br />r screening to obtain the proper gradations.
