May 25,2022 C-1981-008/New Horizon Mine LJW
water,is well vegetated and was stable at the time of the inspection. The inlet ditch was not flowing nor showed
evidence of recent flows and the inlet structure is in good condition. Pond 012 can be seen in Photo Five.
Pond 013 was observed and appeared to be functioning as designed. Aeration and mixing was actively being
conducted at the time of the inspection and the structures associated were functioning well. The Pond has had
three baffle curtains installed to increase the residence time in the pond to assist with water quality. The curtains
and associated mooring posts were noted to be in good conditioning and functioning as intended. An access road
was constructed for the installation of the curtains, all disturbance related to the installation appeared stable and no
evidence of settling, slumping or erosion was noted in the area. The Pond can be seen in Photo Six.
Pond 015 is located to the south of Pond 013 on a south facing hill slope. The pond was dry at the time of the
inspection and showed no signs of recent flows our impoundment of water. The pond appeared stable and was in
good condition at the time of the inspection. Photo Seven shows Pond 015.
Pond 016 located along BB road was observed with a small amount of pooling water shown in Photo Eight. The
pond is in good condition and containing the water as designed,The pond bottom and banks are well vegetated
and stable. The inlet to Pond 016 was flowing, and upon investigation the source of the water appears to be
irrigation tail water coming from the irrigated field to the east of the topsoil stockpile area. The roller sprinklers
were actively applying water to the field which was flowing downgradient, reporting to the ditch along the access
road, and ultimately to Pond 016. This is not considered a problem at this time as no evidence of significant
erosion was noted as a result of the flow.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photo One: View northwest, showing the observed area of topographic change as
detailed in the SL-25 objection. The area does contain a sharp topographic change,
however is well vegetated and appeared stable at the time of the inspection.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 3 of 7
