EXHIBIT A LEGAL DESCRIPTION
The site is approximately 2.5 miles northwest of Montrose, CO. The property is bounded by the
Uncompahgre River, agricultural fields, a riparian corridor to the northeast, and multiple
surrounding gravel pits. Directly to the north is the applicant's currently operating mine, the Base
Products Gravel Pit#1, and adjacent to the west of is the Spring Creek Pit operated by United
Companies. To the east of the site is the Lasalle Pit operated by Montrose County, and to the
southeast is the United Companies Haldorson Pit. The site will be accessed via the Base
Products Gravel Pit#1 to the north at the same mine entry location. The site and its
surroundings are shown on Map C-1, included in Appendix 2. A general location map is
enclosed as Map B-1.
The total permit area is 73.8 acres.

Principal Meridian, County of Montrose, State of Colorado and being more particularly described
