March 16,2022 C-1981-008/New Horizon Mine LJW
observed. The mixed topsoil stockpile is well vegetated as seen in Photo Four. The Topsoil B stockpile is less
densely vegetated, however still in good condition. Adjacent to the topsoil stockpiles area is the footprint where
historic topsoil stockpiles have either been used during reclamation or relocated. The footprint shows no signs of
settling, slumping or erosion, and vegetative cover is beginning to establish after last year's seeding efforts. This
area can be seen in Photo Five.
All topsoil stockpiles stored in the ancillary topsoil storage area located off BB road were observed. The newly
relocated stockpiles can be seen in Photos Six and Seven, have been seeded but are not yet vegetated. Despite the
lack of vegetation the piles were stable at the time of the inspection. Other various stockpiles stored in the area are
well vegetated, and were stable at the time of the inspection. Photo Eight shows an example of those piles.
PHOTOGRAPHS
Photo One: View north, showing the bulk fuel storage tank, secondary containment
and pump system.
