The inspection consists of
collection of aerial images by Brock Bowles, then evaluation of the images by Janet Bums.
The mine site is almost fre of snow. Patchy snow remains in shadowed north facing slopes. The vegetation in the
area remains brown and dormant.
BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14
Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2;Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
The highwall/backfill interface settling crack north of the Irrigated pasture is visible in Photo # .
Tamping of this crack to reduce water inflow into the crack is advised.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The mine site appears dry at the time of the inspection. There was no standing water or puddles observed
on the surface. Both Pond 1 and Pond 2 were dry with no standing water in the bottom of either pond. Snow
remains on the north facing inslopes of both ponds.
The sediment control ditches appear clear of blockage and appear dry.
The reclaimed ditches at the north end of the permit area, that were snow covered during the 2/23/2022 inspection
were free of snow. Neither reclaimed ditch showed any visible erosional features. Vegetative cover on both of the
reclaimed ditches appeared good.
Based upon the drainage patterns where the irrigation water flows off the irrigated pasture, there are no obvious
low spots in the field that are retaining water and ponding. Drainage patterns suggest runoff is reporting to the
sediment control structures as designed.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 5
