This report is a result of evaluation of the aerial images by Janet Binns of CDRMS.
The weather appears clear with light hazy clouds. Snow cover is present thoughout the site, though appears south
facing slopes have mostly melted off.
Coal haul trucks were visible on LPCR 120 at the time of the inspection.
FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18:
Large animal tracks were visible in the snow covered slopes in the King I area. There was evidence of
large animals plowing through the snow on the topsoil stockpile located on the eastern end of the upper RDA.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE -Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7,4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The West pond at King I was visible, though snow covered. No additional clean out of sediment from this
pond has occurred since fourth quarter 2021. The East Pond at King I was visible, though mostly snow covered.
It appears that snow is beginning to melt and run off is being contained in the East pond.As far as can be
discerned with the snow cover, the ditches at King I look like they are functioning appropriately. Neither pond at
King I was holding enough water to discharge.
Pond 1 at King II appeared to be holding some standing water at the discharge riser area. This water elevation is
well below the discharge level and no discharge had occurred in the outflow channel of Pond 1. The clean water
ditches at King II appear functional and free flowing.
Gravel/ballast SAE at King II appears well contained within the silt fence control structure.
PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES—Rule 4.10 and 4.11
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 2 of 6
