February 24,2022 C-1996-084/Lorencito Canyon Mine JLE
ROADS—Rule 4.03
Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3),Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and
(6)/4.03.2(5) and(6),Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7):
The roads throughout the site were observed.Many of the access roads leading to the sediment control ponds are
in need of maintenance and grading. Mr.Massarotti indicated that NECC is planning to conduct this maintenance
in the near future.
Figure 4. Access road to Pond 008.
SLIDES and DAMAGE -Rule 4.12:
The area above Pond 006a was observed. This area is indicated to have been reclaimed in 2007 and 2009 based on
the last annual reclamation report map. The reclaimed area is steep and large rills have formed on the graded
slope. According to Mr.Massarotti,NECC intends to regrade this area where vegetation establishment has been
sparse and large rills have formed. Material from pond and ditch cleanings may be used as additional growth
medium to enhance vegetation establishment in the future. Once this work is completed,NECC will need to
revise the documented seeding date of these areas in their reclamation reports.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3
Page 5 of 8
