--Q
E URAY-9LvER MuvEs
INTRODUCTION
This SWMP is prepared to mitigate potential impacts to Waters of the U.S. (Sneffels Creek)
resulting from mining and milling operations at the Revenue Mine by Ouray Silver Mines Inc. in
Ouray County, Colorado. As an active mine the measures outlined in this Plan will significantly
improve the stormwater management of the Revenue Mine and as such, will lessen the impact
of sediment laden stormwater to Sneffels Creek, which is the receiving water. This impact is
addressed in this SWMP, as well as the measures taken to mitigate said impact.
DESCRIPTION OF MINING ACTIVITIES
The Revenue Mine is located along Ouray County Road 26 (approximately six miles southwest
of Ouray, CO) at latitude 37.97400' N and longitude 107.75076` W. The site is bordered by
Sneffels Creek to the north and mountains of the San Juan range to the south. The mine area
has been extensively disturbed since the 1880's.
Metal mining operations will be conducted under a DRMS 112D Permit known as the "Revenue
Mine" Permit M-2012-032. Ouray Silver Mines Inc. is permitted for the following uses on the
property:
• Underground mining
• Underground processing of ore
• Surface facilities to support mining activities
• Fuel and Chemical Storage
UNDERGROUND MINING
Ouray Silver Mines personnel operate underground to develop drifts, stopes, and other
excavations for the purpose of producing ore. As part of these activities there will be drilling,
blasting, excavating, and hauling of materials. None of these activities will be exposed to
stormwater runoff.
UNDERGROUND PROCESSING
Operation of an underground processing system for the mined ore will also take place at the
Revenue Mine. This facility is completely constructed underground, and therefore will not be
exposed to stormwater runoff.
SURFACE FACILITIES
An Administration Building and a Dry Miner's Building is used to house offices and provide
lavatories and change facilities for employees. The Mill Building houses the generators,
transformers compressors and essential process equipment. The Warehouse Storage Area
holds consumables and large facility equipment. The Railyard protects the portal and provides a
Stormwater Management Plan 4 1 P a Q e
