OF CO
-o DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
John W.Hickenlooper
!$7 Governor
- Mike King
Executive Director
January 27, 2014 Dick Wolfe,P.E.
Director/State Engineer
Gary Linden
Tetra Tech
Transmission via email: aary.linden(cD-tetratech.com
RE: SLURRY WALL LINER APPROVAL
Treiber A Pond (WDID 0303323)
Treiber Lakes, DRMS M-2011-049 (WDID 0303042)
SW1/4 Section 33, T8N R69W, WATER DIVISION 1, WATER DISTRICT 3
Dear Mr.Linden:
The purpose of this letter is to approve the lining of the Treiber A Pond. This reservoir is located
primarily in the NW%of the SWY/4 of Section 33, Township 8 North, Range 69 West of the 6"' P.M. and
is a part of the Treiber Lakes gravel pit (DRMS M-2011-049). This slurry wall liner leak test
commenced September 30, 2013 and concluded on December 31, 2013. A site inspection was
performed by our office on October 18, 2013 to review site conditions and the leak test plan.
Your report dated January 2014 provides the liner summary and leak test result. The test data
provided indicates that the reservoir has been lined to the design standard referenced in the
August 1999 State Engineer Guidelines for Lining Criteria for Gravel Pits (1999 SEO Guidelines).
Meeting the design standard requires that during reservoir operations all water inflows and
outflows for the liner perimeter enclosed area be accounted for on a monthly basis.
With this liner approval, the Treiber A Pond is now classified as a lined reservoir in accordance with
the 1999 SEO Guidelines. Water shall not be impounded in the reservoir except pursuant to lawful
diversions allowed by statute or decree. At all other times, all inflow of water into the reservoir from
any source, including precipitation and ground water inflows shall be removed to prevent illegal
storage of water. Prior to ANY use of this site, the owner or operator will need to coordinate with Mark
Simpson, District 3 Water Commissioner, to review operations, measurement structures, stage-
storage curves, and accounting.
Please contact me at the number below if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
I-aLl
Tracy Kosl ff, P.E.
