Ponds 1, 2 and 3 and constructing a soil-bentonite cutoff wall around Treiber A, which were
completed in 2012 and 2013, respectively. Additional phases of reclamation are on-going.
1.2 Site Description
The site description below contains information relevant to this portion of the system design.
Ponds/Pits outside of the current design are not described. Additional information about the
ponds in this project can be found in Section 4.
Overland Ponds Pond 1 is located at the upstream end of the system. Currently, water is
conveyed into Overland Ponds Pond 1 from the New Mercer Ditch at a maximum flow rate
of approximately 10 cubic feet per second (cfs). Future inflows from the Pleasant Valley
Pipeline or other sources will likely also contribute to the Overland Ponds Pond 1 inflows.
There is one existing culvert in Overland Ponds Pond 1, a 24-inch inner diameter steel
reinforced polyethylene (SRPE) low level interconnect pipe located through the berm
between Overland Ponds Ponds 1 and 2. Topographic information for Overland Ponds
Pond 1 was obtained by Civil Arts in 2011.
Overland Ponds Pond 2 is located downstream of Overland Ponds Pond 1 and upstream of
Overland Ponds Pond 3 and Treiber A. An existing 26-inch inside diameter(ID) high-
density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe is located through the berm between Ponds 2 and 3. The
interior slope of Overland Ponds Pond 2 pit was reclaimed in 2012 by placing and
compacting a clay slope liner at a 3H:1V (horizontal:vertical) grade extending into bedrock.
The slope liner is keyed to a maximum of 5 feet into bedrock, as shown on design drawing
C-1 in Appendix C. Topographic information for Overland Ponds Pond 2 was obtained by
King Surveyors, Inc., in November, 2013
Overland Ponds Pond 3 is located downstream of Overland Ponds Pond 2 and upstream of
the future Overland Ponds Pond 4. Overland Ponds Pond 3 is currently undergoing
reclamation and is lined with a combination slope liner/slurry wall system. There currently is
not an outlet for water from Overland Ponds Pond 3. Topographic data were not provided to
GEI for Overland Ponds Pond 3.
Treiber A is located downstream of Overland Ponds Pond 1 and Overland Ponds Pond 2 and
upstream of Treiber B. An existing high level culvert of unknown size/capacity connects
Overland Ponds Pond 1 and Treiber A. There currently is not an outlet for water from
Treiber A. Topographic information for Treiber A was obtained by King Surveyors, Inc. in
June 2014
Treiber A is lined with a soil-bentonite cutoff wall extending approximately 4 feet into
bedrock. The interior slopes within Treiber A are currently being constructed by placing and
compacting fill to a 3H:1 V slope, with liner construction completion anticipated in early
November 2014 prior to construction of the interconnects.
GEI Consultants, Inc.
