Haul roads although muddy,were in
good repair and passable. Cows were grazing on the lower north facing slopes at the west end of the site.
PERMITTING ACTIONS in PROGRESS:
o SL23 Phase III bond release.
UPCOMING PERMITTING ACTIONS
OUTSTANDING MAINTENANCE
1. Pond dredging is ongoing, Deal system is next in line for dredging.
2. Tires at bottom of west facing slope at the ash pit are piled up. These should be spread out and
laid flat so that when compaction takes place no voids are present.
3. Ditch reconstruction along the north edge of the N pit to handle surface flow.
4. Clearing vegetation below the flume at No Name Pond#5 is needed.
MAINTENANCE ITEMS ADDRESSED:
East Pyeatt Pond was being dredged at the time of inspection.
INSPECTION
GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE:
Activities in the L,N and I/J pits were observed and appear to be progressing as permitted. The Queen
Anne was idle in the N pit at the time of inspection. The dragline will finish moving overburden at the
east end of the pit in the near future. One dragline is operating, casting spoil in the L pit; and one
dragline is idle. A parting shot blast was observed in L dip pit. High wall mining in I/J pit is scheduled to
begin in December 2021. Water was pooled at the northwest wall of the I/J pit and is pumped on an as
needed basis. Coal was being loaded from the Q seam in N pit. Coal, overburden and ash were being
hauled. No offsite air quality or hydrologic issues were observed at the time of inspection.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 5
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 2 of 8
