w t <br /> This actually happened once before in October 2011 just a couple hundred feet from our home <br /> (see attached article). At that time,two Golden High School students were hiking in the area and <br /> explored the old mine in the hogback. Luckily,one student was able to exit the mine but the other <br /> remained trapped. After two and a half hours, the second student was freed from the mine. We <br /> remember that night—it was dark and getting cold. One of the firefighters told us that to retrieve <br /> the boy was one of his most frightening experiences. <br /> Had both students been trapped in the mine, no one would have known, and they would have died <br /> from hypothermia. <br /> So,please, do the right thing for our families and our communities—DO NOT APPROVE THIS <br /> PERMIT TO MINE in Golden. <br /> Thank you for your time. <br /> spectfully, <br /> O' en Judy O'Brien <br />
