Ouray Silver Mines, Inc.
1900 Main St. Unit 1
PO Box 564
Ouray,CO 81427 -----'
l 11 RAY SiILVFR A 1ktiE
To: Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining,& Safety
1313 Sherman St. Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
September 16,2021 SEP 2 0 2021
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
Dear Mr. West MINING AND SAFETY
Ouray Silver Mines Inc. (OSMI)received the 2nd Adequacy Review for Technical Revision 16 to Permit
M2012-032; rthe Revenue-Virginius Mine(Mine). The Adequacy Review raised 7 major points, each
of which are addressed in italics under headings that repeat the DRMS point of clarification. A list of
tables and attachments added to this Adequacy Review Response is found below:
Oil/Water Separator Technical Information
Updated Vehicle Wash Area Drawing
Equipment Storage Sheds
1. Your response of removing the concrete footers for the Equipment Storage Sheds to a depth of 1 foot
below grade is noted, however Division policy is that all concrete will be buried a minimum of 3 feet
below final grade and that no structural elements(rebar)may be protruding. The Division will bond as
such. Please commit to removing concrete footers in accordance with this policy.
Response: The mine commits to removing the footers according to Division policy and will remove the
footers a minimum of 3 feet below final grade.
Equipment Wash Area
2. The drawing submitted of the vehicle wash pad is overly simplistic, please provide a more detailed
drawing of the Equipment Wash Area. The drawings should include but are not limited to details
regarding curbing around the perimeter of the pad, location of the sump and its relationship to and
location of the Oil Water Separator.
Response:Please see the attached drawing. There will be a I foot curb surrounding the wash area except
for the entrance to the wash pad which will be left open to allow equipment on rail to enter the area. A
submersible 5 gpm pump will be placed into a 3'X 3'X 3'sump located at the end of the wash pad. Wash
water pumped by the submersible pump will report to the oil water separator, which will be located
inside of the underground shop.
3. The drawings submitted depict that the equipment wash area does not have walls. It is likely that
contaminated(hydrocarbon)water would not end up on the wash pad and instead the area around the pad
would become contaminated over time. Please describe and include in the updated drawings if necessary,
to address how splash-back water resulting from washing of vehicles will be contained.
Response: OSMI will place portable plastic curtains (similar to the welding screens found on site) around
the pad prior to washing vehicles. The curtains will contain any splash back off of the vehicles and will
ensure that hydrocarbons remain inside of the pad.
Phone:(970)325-9830 ♦ Fax:(970) 325-9824
