Gneral Mining Plan
The Co.se Mine will involve the disturbance of roughly 60 acres of sand and gravel from a
drylanj .terrace located 1.5 miles northeast of Carbondale, CO. Roughly 53 acres of ground will
be mini over the course of the operation, the remaining 7 acres consists of facilities, berms,
and other related disturbance. Mining will be conducted using dozers, scrapers, front-end
loade' *'and haul trucks. The sand and gravel will processed through crushers, screens, and a
wash ant. The final products from the Cerise Mine will consist almost entirely of specifically
sized r ck for use in construction projects. Concrete may be produced on site in the future
under,, rtain conditions.
Minin I'll be conducted over the course of six phases. The first three phases (1 A, 16, & 1C)
will all , ve disturbance during the initial mining, and are therefore grouped (see Mining Map 1).
The mum disturbance area throughout the mine life will be 60.0 acres, during the mining of
Phas'1 1;tMining Map 5). Reclamation will be concurrent with mining to keep this disturbance
It
area d. Mining will take place to a maximum depth of 105 feet. Below the sand and gravel
depothe Eagle valley formation consisting of stltstone, shales, and evaporates. Msning is
not aipated to ever reach the underlying geologic formations.
Mininxtents are shown in Maps C-2 through C-6. The phase labelling has been maintained
from p `vious mining plans, but the phases will not be mined in numerical order. United
rese the right to adapt and adjust the order in which the phases are mined. Such changes
too ons will occur as needed to facilitate the necessary safe and efficient mining and
recta on of the Cerise Mine.
Proc ' tg equipment will be moved through the site as shown on the Mining Plan maps (C-2
throug ;C-6).
As mi; $g progresses through the site, reclamation will be conducted behind the mining.
Highw Hs will be backfilled to the final reclaimed slopes of 3H:1V once they are mined out. This
recta son will be conducted concurrently with mining, to minimize the ongoing disturbed area.
Due tc*erburden quantity limits, the east and south side of the mining area will be mined to
3H:1V! *id as such will only require topsoiling and seeding for reclamation. See Mining Maps 4-
6, the' clamation Map, and Cross Sections.
Miningoill take place in a manner that assures that no more than 375,000 CY of backfill are
requir d,at any given time and that no more than 50 acres of disturbance are open at one time.
W!
! rase Mine
• ©-11 LCti4 SOLE& A550ClAtl'S
i
