Wade Wymore accompanied the inspection
and represented the Operator. Normal activies were tkaing place at the mine during the inspection. at the King II
area, the stackers and air jig were active and trucks were bineg loaded at the time of the inspection. No activities
were being conducted at the King I area. The weather was clear and dry, Nine Photos accompany this report to
illustrate the current site conditions.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
King I Facility
At the King I facility the North Clear Water Ditch was observed. The ditch contained evidence of recent flows but
showed no signs of erosion or instability. Photos One and Two show examples of the ditch. All downgradient
water conveyances around the lower refuse pile and facilites area were observed and appeared to be functioning as
designed. The West sediment pond was observed, and had minimal standing water in response to recent
precipitation events. The East sediment pond contained no standing water but did exhibit evidence of water being
present recently. Both ponds are in good condition, the banks appeared to be stable and are well vegetated. The
ditches can be seen in Photos Three and Four.
Across the upper refuse pile, a series of water bars have been installed to divert surface flow of storm water to the
conveyance ditch on the south side of the upper refuse pile. The water bars are effective and evidence of flow was
observed. However the preferential flow path have been establish and minor rills have formed on the refuse pile.
These erosional features are being considered a maintenance item to be addressed by the Operator. An example of
the erosional features can be seen in Photo Five. Similarly, along the access road leading from the lower refuse
pile to the upper refuse pile minor erosional features were observed. This is also considered a maintenance item to
be addressed by the Operator. An example of the erosional features can be seen in Photo Six.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 2 of 8
