TR-34 to Permit M-1977-342
Environmental Protection Plan
Monitoring: Chemical storage containers will be routinely inspected in accordance with the
SPCC by Mill personnel to assess effectiveness and integrity of each EPF system. The tanks are
generally equipped with level detectors and local alarms that warn of high tank levels.
Maintenance and/or updates to facilities, systems, equipment, or procedures are performed
as needed to be protective of the environment and to prevent releases.
Mill EPF 2.13—Carbon Dioxide Storage: Carbon dioxide will be used at the Mill WTP to neutralize
the pH of effluent water. Bulk liquid CO2 will be stored on the south side of the WTP building in
a 775 gallon (4,929 pounds) Microbulk Storage Tank.
Effectiveness: Any CO2 release would be in gaseous form. CO2 alarms will be installed to
indicate the presence of a leak.
7.2.3. Stormwater Diversion System
Mill EPF 3.1 — Stormwater Diversion System: The following stormwater diversion systems
intercept clean water and divert it around the Mill facilities:
• The Ultimate Canal on the west and north ends of the TSF diverts un-impacted
stormwater around the north end of the property to the Williams Fork River; and
• The Upper Bypass Pipeline on the southwest portion of the Mill property diverts water
through an underground diversion pipe to the Williams Fork River.
See Section 10.2 and the Henderson SWMP for additional information on stormwater diversion
systems.
Effectiveness:The stormwater diversion canals and pipelines have been effective in preventing
the amount of stormwater that can come into contact with disturbed land, designated
chemicals and toxic or acid forming materials. As a result, the potential pollution of stormwater
is greatly reduced.
Monitoring: The stormwater system is inspected twice per year in accordance with
Henderson's SWMP (see Section 10.2 for additional information).
Climax Molybdenum Company August,2021
Henderson Operations Page 29 of 45
