J & P TRUCKING CALICHE PIT
Exhibit D
Mining Plea
The sequence of mining will be to begin excavation in Phase 1
area, then proceed through the phases, in the order they are
numbered. Phase 1 will affect approx. 10 acres, and will
utilize an approximately 1 acre haul road that will proceed
northwest from the main pit entrance to the Phase 1 area.
The main pit entrance is accessed via an existing two track
road that is currently used by the landowners for farming
purposes, and will be left in place for farm use following
mining completion. Phase 1 will begin in the northwest end of
a previously started pit (depicted on topographical maps in
Exhibit C), located in the Northwest Quarter of the proposed
permitted area. As depicted on the maps in Exhibit C, Phase 1
contains approx. 3 acres in the corner of an irrigated circle, as
well as being part of the irrigated circle. Said 3 acres is a ridge
of desired caliche material that is to be removed at the request
of the landowner so that the center pivot sprinkler will operate
as desired. A screener and possibly crusher will be placed in
the northwest end of the area that was disturbed/affected by
the previous gravel operation inside the boundaries of Phase
1, and will be moved as the mining progresses within the
boundaries of Phase 1. Excavation will then proceed in a
South/Southeasterly direction inside the boundaries of Phase
1 with the use of loaders and an excavator. No explosives are
needed or will be used. The type of overburden is
topsoil/black dirt, ranging approx. 1 to 4 inches thick, with the
exact make-up of the stratum immediately beneath the
material being unknown. The nature of the deposit is caliche,
depth is shallow, thickness is approx. 4 to 20 feet. The topsoil
will be stockpiled along/within the boundaries of the phase
being mined and left in place until it is needed for re-topsoiling.
Topsoil stockpiles will be re-seeded with western wheatgrass
to prevent erosion if said stockpiles are to be left in place
longer than one
