(please refer to wells located on Exhibit C.1) from the operation and the depth of the <br /> ground water table, none of the wells will be affected by the mining operation. Surface <br /> water runoff from the mined areas will flow toward the center of the current mined <br /> area. Material in that area will allow the water to percolate within 72 hours. If erosion <br /> gullies begin to form, the operator will install straw bales or boulders in the gullies to act <br /> as check dams and to control sediment. <br /> d) The 1,047.5 acre mine will be mined in 7 phases 100 acres at a time with no more than <br /> 200 acres affected at one time. After each phase is disturbed it will go through the <br /> reclamation process with no more than 200 acres affected at one time. Extraction will <br /> occur at a depth of 30-40 feet with the resource itself being sand and round rock which <br /> varies in size from 2 inches up to 18 inches. The maximum length of the highwall will be <br /> approximately 100'. <br /> e) Fremont Paving and Redi Mix has installed BMP's along the southern portion of the <br /> active mine area. These same BMP's will be used along the border of the active mine <br /> area and Eight Mile Creek when mining begins within that phase. <br /> f) The approximate timetable for the mine is 15-20 years based on market conditions. <br /> i. Each phase is estimated to take 2-3 years. <br /> ii. Each phase being mined will be 100 acres at a time with the previous 100 mined <br /> acres undergoing reclamation. <br /> iii. The Penrose Pit will be mined 100 acres at a time with no more than 200 acres <br /> disturbed at one time. All mining activities will move except for a permanent <br /> wash plant for the life of the mine. The wash plant will require about 10 acres. <br /> g) Map <br /> i. This site itself contains very little overburden. Visual inspection reveals that <br /> cobble and rock fragments are on the surface of the entire property. As you <br /> move east on the property, more overburden is encountered. In these areas <br /> there is some strippable overburden which will be stockpiled. The majority of <br /> the material used for backfilling will come from non-marketable and rejected <br /> fines from the processing plant. We anticipate this to be between 15% and 20% <br /> of the total material processed. This amount of fines will be more than adequate <br /> for the backfilling and reclamation of the site. <br /> ii. The depth of the sand and gravel resource is approximately 30 to 40 feet and it is <br /> underlain by soft clay stone. <br />
