-6
DLRAY SILVER MLNES
b. Dura-plate 8200: This product requires concrete to cure 28 days @ 75F prior to application.
What's the anticipated wait time given the specific site conditions? No rating against
chemicals was provided, please include more information.
Response: Both FastStop SL23 and Dura-Plate 8200 will be used. Based on correspondence with the
manufacturer, these sealants were determined to be the most efficient epoxy for the chemical regents
used in the Revenue Mill. The Dura-Plate 8200 is the topcoat and must be used to get the full effect of
the sealant.
a. The System Guide for FastStop SL23 states the epoxy can be applied to "green concrete,"which
is normally 7-10 days depending on the concrete mix.Per correspondence with the manufacturer,
repairs to Faststop SL23 are the same as Dura-Plate 8200. It is expected that there will be
minimal repairs to the SL23 as most repairs will apply to the 8200 topcoat for normal
maintenance.
b. Based on correspondence with the manufacturer,Dura-Plate 8200 must be applied to SL23 within
24 hours to be effective. If it were to be applied to just concrete the 28-day cure time would be
needed, but that wait time is not necessary since it is being applied to the SL23. Correspondence
with the manufacturer also indicated that the low humidity in the region will not impact the
effectiveness of the product. Reagent SDS sheets were provided to Sherwin Williams to confirm
the specific epoxies to be used. The 8200 will enhance the rating of the SL23 below it.
15. Is there any way to evaluate when the barrier (epoxy) needs replaced other than apparent spots of
damage? Provide any sort of maintenance schedule or inspections to ensure it remains impermeable?
Response: The manufacturer recommends an evaluation of the epoxy at 6mos- 12mos as routine
maintenance. The mine will include a visual assessment of the epoxy coating to the daily inspection
sheet. The visual assessment will ensure that the epoxy coating is checked regularly. The visual
assessment will check the epoxy for wear patterns that may develop after a few years -similar to carpet
as the manufacturer describes.
16. It is understood that all piping will be pressure tested after assembly, however a portion of that
piping leaves the reagent room and enters the Mill, please clarify if the reagent piping will be
pressure tested separately or if the pressure test will be performed when the piping is connected to
the applicable pipes in the Mill and the greater Mill Reagent piping system will be tested as one
unit.
Response: Both. The reagent piping segments will be pressure tested separately as they are assembled.
Once the entire system is assembled it will be tested as one unit.
17. The QA/QC table is somewhat abbreviated, but sufficient. The Division does not have
access to the ASME database so the benchmarks need to be explicit stated. This along with the
supporting documentation of the tests performed will make tracking of the tests easier. Provide the
Division with the referenced ASME standard.
51Page
