Mr. Joslriva Oliver
June 9,2021
Page 4 o l`4
• DRMS acknowledges the statements provided that no groundwater will be exposed prior to approval of
slurry walls other than the freshwater and siltation ponds, and that the bond for the"southern" slurry wall
will be provided in the future through the revision process prior to commencement of installation of that
slurry wall.
• Cost to remove"batch plant" shown on mining plan map. This information will need to correlate with the
configuration of the batch plant provided in the mining plan.
• Listing of equipment to be utilized to complete needed tasks(scraper, dozer, grader, water truck, etc).
DRMS will verify the required bond when the information requested is provided and all remaining adequacy
issues have been resolved.
EXHIBIT S-Permanent Man-Made Structures (Rule 6.4.19):
• As previously stated, the unlined slopes of the freshwater and siltation pond are shown on the modified
mining plan map as 1:1, however, the submitted geotechnical stability exhibit provides analysis of 2:1
slopes for all excavations, and only in three locations for the entire site. Please either re-run the stability
model to demonstrate adequate setbacks for the freshwater and siltation pond at a 1:1 slope and at the
maximum projected depths, or modify the mining plan map to reflect 2:1 slopes for these excavations as
described in the current stability exhibit.
• Please also describe in detail how it was determined that only 3 sections would be needed to provide
adequate stability setback data for all structures within and within 200' of the permit area, and how those
sections were selected. Additional analysis may be required for structures currently shown to be within
mining cells as shown in the submitted revised maps.
This concludes the Division's preliminary adequacy review of this application. This letter shall not be construed
to mean that there are no other technical deficiencies in your application. Other issues may arise as additional
information is supplied. Please remember that the decision date for this amendment application is June 17,2021.
As previously mentioned, if you are unable to provide satisfactory responses to any inadequacies prior to this
date, it will be your responsibility to request an extension of time to allow for continued review of this
application. If there are still unresolved issues when the decision date arrives and no extension has been
requested, the application will be denied. If you have any questions, please contact me at(303) 866-3567 x8140.
Sincerely,
Eric Scott—Environmental Protection Specialist
CC:
Enclosures:
