11. Estimated Depths of Mining-operator will not go below bottom elevation 6570
12. Blasting Plan—No blasting is anticipated unless necessary, a licensed blaster will be contracted,
and all requirements and permits will be obtained.
13. Mining verses groundwater depth: Due to mountain and valley topo, a maximum mining depth is
projected at 35 feet, the bottom elevation of the mine site where processing will be is 6588 and the
top elevation at 6811 feet for a total discrepancy of 223 feet. All mining would occur within the
granitic deposit which ranges in thickness from 50 to 500 feet thick in Texas Creek area per BLM.
Ground water will not be exposed, because we are not going below surface below bottom elevation.
14. Water Usage. Water tank 6000 gallons will be filled in city of Westcliffe and hauled to pit and
used for dust control water use age will be intermittent as well as the pit operation.
15.Water Rights: We will not be using ground water. We will be hauling in and purchasing water
from city of Westcliffe. As stated in 13. Will not be exposing ground water at all not going below
bottom elevation.
16. Hydrologic Impacts: As Stated in 13. Will NOT expose ground water not mining below bottom
elevation. The proposed project location is separate from the nearest surface water by 1 mile. The
nearest public drinking water intake is for Canon City 24 miles downstream. This area is outside the
area covered by the Canon City source water protection plan. The analysis of sedimentation and
water quality addresses impacts to drinking water, as per BLM. Stormwater drainage controls will be
installed simultaneously to site preparation. Drainage controls will consist of dirt 2-3 ft high berms
along the northern and eastern boundary and roads, drainage ditches, culverts, silt fences and a 4-
inch riprap sediment/catchment pond. Area will be monitored and maintained.
17. Noxious weed plan: monitor for noxious weeds in project area. Will control any noxious weeds in
accordance with BLM pesticide policy. As per BLM.Will send a weed control plan for review if it
becomes necessary with the fee.
18. Reclamation Performance Standards:
a. i. expecting to salvage approx. 1-2"(depth) of topsoil to stock pile for reclamation
ii. topsoil will be bermed and seeded to control erosion and weed control
iii. ground will be scar fired and salvaged topsoil will be spread and broadcast seed mix if
necessary after monitoring straw or geotextiles will be used.
b. i. seed Mix Rocky Mountain Native Mix new seeding Broadcasting 20-25 Ibs per acre
20%Slender Wheatgrass, 20% Mountain Brome, 15%Green Needle grass, 15%Thick
Spike Wheatgrass, 10% Rocky Mountain Fescue, 5% Blue Grama (coated), 5% Indian
Rice grass, 5%Sandberg Bluegrass, 5% Bottle Brush Squirrel tail, Reapply topsoil to
The areas that are reclaimed and broadcast seed mix.
ii. no trees will be plated
