The vegetation and seeding rates for soil types are as follows:
SPECIES RATE (PLS/AC)
Indian rice grass 2.40
Thickspike Wheatgrass 1.00
Western Wheatgrass 3.20
Blue Grama 0.60
Sand Dropseed 0.03
Bottlebrush Squirreltail 0.03
Louisiana Sage 0.90
Four Wing Saltbush 0.40
The availability of the seed is good. All seed types except Louisiana Sage are native to the San
Luis Valley. Fringed sage will be substituted in the seed mixture for the Louisiana Sage.
It will take one to two days to plant the seed. The methods of seeding will be drilling or
broadcasting the seed. The best time to plant will be from July 15th to August 1st, or after
November 1st. No mulch or fertilizer will be used for planting the new seed. No trees or shrubs
will be planted.
Cost Estimate
RMS Utilities, Inc. plans to spend approximately 4,000$ to mitigate identified impacts, to re-
vegetate disturbed areas, and to grade the site after the completion of the mining activity to a
natural state.
2
