RECEIVED
MAY 2 4 2021
Grant Bros. Const. LLC
Po Box 1027 110 w Homestead Dr. DIVISION OF RECLAmT%
MININO AND UYM
Basalt CO. 81621
970-625-9120 Pit 970-927-3201 office/home
May 17 2021
Travis Marshall, Russ Means
Supervisors
Colorado Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman St., Room215
Denver CO. 80203
Dear Travis Marshall, Russ Means:
I am writing today about the mine inspection Amy Yeldell did at our mine site April 15, 2021.
It was raining that day and we stood at the scale house under the outside eaves and at the door way
keeping 6 feet apart per covid protocol. I did not accompany Amy as she drove around the mine to
look at the site. When she came back to the scale house she said she found two gas cans that
needed to be in containment. She said that's all she needed to do and was finished with her
inspection. She left the mine.
The two gas cans were in fact on road non dyed diesel for my pickup and were just taken out of my
truck to haul a full load of stuff at the pit. I loaded them back in my truck to have extra on road fuel
when I travel in the back country or long distances. They are not used at the pit. (See picture)
The drums in her pictures are empty. We buy new oil in drums from time to time and use them to
put recycle oil in from our service truck evacuation tank and oil drained from the equipment. We
use these drums to give drained oil to friends with oil heaters in their shops. These drums are not
rubbish and serve a useful purpose. We also sell them back to the oil distributors when we have
more than one or two to go back. We have stacked them up so they don't look like trash. (See
pictures).
I am writing this letter a few days after I called Amy Yeldell, Travis Marshall, and Russ Means by
phone. I am still highly ticked off with the comments of the second paragraph under observations. I
have never had an inspector state or federal put these kinds of statements derived from fantasies
