Stormwater Management Plan <br /> The PENN MINE site is a separate, stand-alone Mine with no mining operations(excavation existing <br /> stockpiles)on or immediately adjacent to the Mine. (See Figure 2)There is no pit or excavation <br /> operation, consequently there are no. <br /> • Overburden removal activities. <br /> • Overburden stockpile activities. <br /> • New waste rock stockpiles. <br /> • Ore deposit excavations, or <br /> • Other related mining events outside of PENN MINE crushing, screening, stockpile removal and <br /> transportation. <br /> Pre-existing roads within in the permit area will be upgraded, and stormwater management control <br /> features will be maintained to allow access for emergency vehicles,haul trucks, and activities <br /> implementing road safety features. Upgrading features will include ECMs,check dams. (See Figure 2 - <br /> Check Dams/Berms) <br /> SITE VEGETATION AND GENERAL DRAINAGE AND INFORMATION <br /> Vegetation <br /> The permit area limited vegetation consisting of pine trees. (See Figure 4) <br /> Drainage <br /> There are no defined drainage channels, or rills within the PENN MINE's working area. If sheet wash <br /> runoff occurs, water will flow into ephemeral drainage channels and to the Arkansas River. (See Figure <br /> 1). <br /> SITE ACTIVITIES <br /> • Leadville PENN MINE will operate 7 days per week(weather permitting)excluding major <br /> holidays. <br /> • Winter road maintenance will include plowing,or storing, snow. ECMs such as rock berms will <br /> be installed to control snow/stormwater runoff and sediment. <br /> • Drainage control maintenance will commence following initial road improvements. <br /> EROSION CONTROL MEASURES, MONITORING, INSPECTION AND <br /> MAINTENANCE <br /> EROSION CONTROL MEASURE (ECM) <br /> 1. ECMs will be implemented to manage stormwater and to prevent sediment <br /> from entering the waters of the State at the following locations, <br /> • a. access and internal roads, <br /> • b. berms and <br /> • c.toes of mine dumps. <br /> Where appropriate,the following stormwater management controls measures (See <br /> Appendix 1) will be utilized where necessary: <br /> • Check Dams, <br /> • Berms and <br /> PENN MINE <br /> CIK Milling Company,LLC <br /> Leadville,Colorado <br /> Page 4 of 29 <br />
