Trees removed from the surface material removal project will be mulched for reclamation.The trees are not mature and will make nice mulch. • For the purpose of this estimate, it is estimated that each tree will yield 4yd3 (on the high side) of mulch and that mulch will be spread 3-inches-thick over the disturbed area. Given these assumptions, approximately 4,000yd3 of mulch (or 1,000 trees) will be prepared. It is important to note that seeding will be done mostly on native topsoil that was covered by vein dump material and should contain adequate organic material to support plant growth. The Mulch will supplement this material. In practice, the available trees felled, will be spread evenly on the disturbed areas, excluding the roads. Task 3 — Prepare & Seed Disturbed Area. $11,699. To achieve approximate original contours after mining, it is estimated that 1 yd3 of material will need to be moved over 3 ydz of area. • Grade 16,500yd3 with dozer. • Harrow 10 acres with dozer. • Purchase seed. Assume 100 Ibs required. 9.45lb/acre x 10.12 acre = 95.61b. Vendor quote for seed discussed in 5.1.3 is$242/10-lb bag. • Drill 10 acres with seed. Indirect Costs: Indirect costs include provisions for; • Insurance—2.5% • Performance bond—1.5% • Contractor profit—15% • Project management—10% Estimate Inputs: The estimate assumes fully burdened equipment operator labor rate of $39.00/hr, assistant labor of $18.00/hr and diesel fuel cost of$3.75/gallon.
